This story is set in the Bo-Kaap and the characters speak in ‘Afrikaaps’ a unique mixture of English and Afrikaans mainly spoken in Cape Town and traditionally used in coloured communities where English and Afrikaans are used interchangeably in the home. It has become a hallmark of Cape coloured culture and is also known as Kaapse Taal.
