Hi everyone I’m Shivono Canuel Makhubele. I grew up in a small and interesting village named Mhangweni, but we’ve now relocated to Giyani (Ndengeza). I am currently studying at the University of Limpopo doing my LLB.
What is your favourite book or author?
The Holy Bible (The book of Psalm).
What type of music do you enjoy listening to?
I mostly enjoy playing gospel music but I do also enjoy a bit of hip-hop and RnB.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Writing poetry, songs (anything literal).
What message do you have for the youth of SA today?
Aside from all the mistakes that you have made comes greatness, you just need to dream big and work with prayer for that dream to became true. It doesn’t matter if you’re privileged or not but if you work hard you will succeed in life. You know what they say, anything is possible.
When did you start writing and what inspires you to write
I started writing in 2009 and my first work was a gospel rap song, after that I fell in love with poetry. I am inspired by pain and love I believe that writing is a feeling; you write what you feel and express it in words.
What item do you never leave the house without?
Obviously my cell phone.
What’s your favourite hobby?
I used to love drawing cartoons but now jogging helps to keep the mind fresh.
Which book are you currently reading?
To Sir With Love by E.R Braithwaite.
What wisdom can you share with young writers?
Never stop dreaming and don’t stop writing. Do all that you can to show the world your talent. Read more and give back by writing more fun stories and poems because what you don’t know is that you are an inspiration to other writers and even me.
