I go by the name of Qhamisa Mazwana,a student in one of the universities in Cape town.
I am an apt and avid reader and writer who has attempted to read the whole library out of curiosity as to what each book in each shelf entails.
When the cruel world came for me,writing has always been my shield and so I have survived whatever ordeal that was.
I have a vision to change the world into a better place through my writing,to write stories and books for my African family, helping them battle emotional and mental battles with themselves,as books have done for me.
Growing up I read Maya Angelou and watched Steve Harvey shows on TV,Lebo Mashile’s poetry on YouTube and I always saw myself in them and when Bothlale Boikanyo performed her poems on SA’s Got Talent,I knew from then that I also want to be like her,to unapologetically own the world and wriggle my little hips to the rhythms of my poetry.
I knew I am destined for greatness, for finer things, for words and books.
Writing means a lot to me ,words come through for me,always. When I run out of words to express myself,I always ink my emotions down in paper and when the world seems gloomy and dying,I resort to writing.I believe over the years I will be exposed to greater reading and writing experiences and my inspiration will not only come from my pain, but from the hopes that the world is painted in lustrous colours and there’s more for everyone.
I always had a dream for my work to be published in print,to be in every bookstore shelf and to be a face for inspiration.
I live to aspire,I write to aspire,I write to break free from binding chains,I write for life,I write for more.
“I will triumph over ills,I will own my throne “has always been my mantra.
