I still look back at our last night,

Hand in hand, strolling through our hometown’s delight.

Little did I know, it would be our final sight,

And the next day, you’d vanish, leaving no trace in sight.

Your footprints, swept away by the wind’s gentle might,

Leaving me with memories, fading like the light.

If only I knew, I would have held on tight,

And never let go, for your scent fades with each wash of the night.

In the mirror, I see your eyes Father, a haunting sight,

But as time passes, your image begins to lose its light.

My mind, a thief, stealing moments we shared,

Erasing memories, like the earth reclaiming what’s been spared.

Your memory follows your footsteps, lost in the ground,

Swallowed by the earth, leaving me with a hollow sound.
