“The darkness of the long night came to an end, as the silent streak of dawn approached in the distance. My eyes refused to shut in fear of missing the final moments of a place once called, “home.”

A tranquil breeze transcended the air, whilst the colourful sky mesmerized my gaze. The dazzling moon on her brightest, the sky dressed in its best purple topped with orange clouds, as If it were a friend, dressed in her best purple and orange attire, waving goodbye from afar. I hold my breath.

The morning Athaan sounded a bittersweet moment of “Goodbye,” in its usually welcoming tone. A serene calm and peace filled the void of silence in my troubled heart and the vacant house filled with memories turned to grey. I turn back once more to catch a glimpse of the perfect moon, as it watches me from above.

Meshed in with sadness and fear of the future unknown, this moment will forever reside in my hungry mind. A bag in hand and my cat in arm, the only home I once knew, I had left to return to the place I was born in but unfamiliar with.

As the perfect moon and calling of the Athaan faded into the backdrop of the rising sun, so did my presence.

I hope aboard the plane, as it took flight.

Destination, the unknown future.

Like the morning’s moon, fading gone.
