An SAfm radio guest asks
perhaps a tad rhetorically
of his oft-ditzy interviewer

We’re all in this COVID-bubble
(or something thereabouts)
the guest speaking from far
yet sounding right at our door

His own guest is right here
an Ethiopian-American is she
out in Ethiopia where they are
proud to have an Ethiopian state
in the global community of WHO

He jests asking her about
getting alcohol and cigarettes
(she responding that the only
alcohol is in the hand sanitizer)

Remember when we could fly
all done virtually now
(though distant for many)
we now hear from Somalia
the phone crackling a bit

And in between I get
a sunflower and a bright sky
from a dear friend in Lully
out Lake Geneva way

Who needs to fly
