I’m just a girl with a dream
A dream where all humans
Are treated the same
Regardless of their gender
A dream where women are valued
For who they are
Respected, not disrespected
Appreciated, not unappreciated.

A dream where
A girl child is treated equally with a boy child
Where at schools sciences are not only meant for boy pupils

But girl pupils too
Where a girl child can happily
And confidentiality say,
“When I grow up I want to be a pilot,”
Without being laughed at or mocked
Where a girl child is
Empowered, not molested
Encouraged, not discouraged.

A dream where
The ‘elite’ invite ladies to their parties
To empower them
Not to satisfy their human needs
A dream where women
Are given a chance
To prove they are capable
Where women are appreciated and valued
In their skin, size and shape
A dream where women
Are embraced not embarrassed.

I’m just a girl with a dream
A dream where
An unmarried, pregnant woman
Isn’t seen as a failure
A dream where a divorcee
Can find true love
Without being judged because of her past
A dream where women
Can make their own decisions and choices
Without so many questions being asked
Where women have freedom
To express themselves
Without being oppressed.

I’m just a girl with a dream
A dream where women are
Appreciated
Valued
Empowered
Encouraged
Loved
Embraced for who they are
Most of all, accepted for who they are
I’m just a girl with a dream
