I made the change! Half the time I always hear people say, “Pain changed me,” but not in my world. After all, if that was fairly the case I guess I’d probably be a celebrity by now or at least half the world. I won’t lie, I’ve encountered so many challenges for the past 18 years. Yes! I’m just an 18-year-old who already is about to start a journey of my life filled with happiness. Well, my school journey has of course ended and that means a whole lot of change is about to begin.

Let’s say I’m probably going to go to tertiary soon for three to four years, graduate, get a job, meet Prince Charming, get engaged and have my first child. Well, after my first-born, a wedding has to come after, right after I get back to shape. I guess those are the basics of my life plans. Sure, I’ll travel the world but I would really love settling down with someone who truly understands how crazy I am, and so they say “love is no age” and “love may come in different directions”.

Earlier on, I mentioned I’ve encountered many challenges. A few were being bullied in school, being in an abusive relationship and well, lastly, bad health throughout my high-school life. Those are just a few of them but I’ll go into detail about them later.

Enough about me, let’s talk about pain. The kind of pain that changed you and made people think you don’t belong in society. The funny thing about pain is that you can never understand it until it strikes you. Pain is the only thing in this world that will make you view a person in the way they deserve to be viewed. It can also determine a person’s role in your life. Pain can unite and destroy relationships that have been ongoing for years or months. Everyone’s fear is pain, no matter what the form of pain, whether it’s falling, getting sick or losing a loved one, as long as it’s, pain people will fear. Some people laugh but later on remind themselves that there’s pain somehow, somewhere, lurking, waiting for the right time to strike.

Another challenge is we never talk about pain with family members mainly because some fail to understand our pain and are too eager to judge. But we wouldn’t understand the importance of joy and freedom without having to encounter pain. Those are just the basics of pain.

Tell us: What can you say about pain?
