Take me back to when we would sit around the fire and play games such as Cumbelele until Granny says, “Chosi chosi.” And in harmony we would shout, “Chosi ndaba zolwimi!” Take me back to when we would skip the rope singing delightful wakhala udelila…back to when we would run around while the rain was pouring, singing, “Nkcenkce emlanjani ndokhula nini.”

Nothing was sweet as Mamcirha’s stolen berries, not to mention baw’uThiyane’s ever over-ripened peaches. Drinking from the running stream came with refreshment, not sickness.
