A very controversial topic in the discussions of morality would be the death penalty. In South Africa the death penalty, by law, is not a permissible punishment when prosecuting criminals.

However, should South Africa be forced to instate the death penalty, then I’m guessing we should somehow have a decrease in crime rates. This begs the question, do we have any divinity or omnipotence to determine whether someone will live or die? Of course when a person murders another, we can also ask, does such a person have a divine right to kill another?
There is no end to the debate of what is right and wrong. We can use intelligence and our limited reasoning yet still the debate of whether the death penalty is right or wrong will never end.
