“Yes. My fiancee is Mihlali we are getting married on December.”

My throat gets dry. I want to cry but there are no tears, I want to shout out but I am voiceless.

This is it. No more Xolwa. Love of my life is getting married.

I decide to call Tshegofatso when I get home.

“Like really. I knew that Mihlali had a crush on Xolwa when we were still in High school but then I thought it was a silly crush.” I say to my friend Tshegofatso.

“So that girl is determined to ruin your life. “Tshego says.

“What can I say. And she invited me to their wedding.” I say.

“Have you decided to go?”

“There is nothing to decide. I am not going there, I can’t watch Xolwa put a ring in Mihlali ‘s hand.” I reply

“Reneilwe if you love Xolwa. Let him go.Plus going to the wedding will give you closure that he’s gone. Think about it” Tshego says.

The door shoots open and Lethabo get’s in.

“Tshego we’ll talk later.” I say and end the call.

“Good afternoon Mommy.” Lethabo greets me.

“Hey.How was school?” I ask.

“Nothing much happened. I am going to change my uniform” Lethabo says and walks to her bedroom.

“Congratulations Mr and Mrs Radebe.”I say to Xolwa and Mihlali on their wedding day.

“Thank you Reneilwe for everything. Especially for being my maid of honor.” Mihlali says.

“It’s a pleasure. May your marriage be blessed.” I say.

See I decided to take Tshegofatso ‘s advice and go to their wedding.

I have decided to let go of Xolwa and I have filed for divorce papers, I mean it’s no use staying in a loveless marriage and Lethabo is old enough to understand that mommy and daddy are not in love.

Well, well, well my story did not end happily because Xolwa is a married man. I also thought it would end happily but sometimes life is no fairytale and we don’t always have a happy ending. My memories with Xolwa can never be erased but I hope I will learn to accept that it’s not the end of the world.
