CHAPTER 7
” What are you doing here?”she stopped waking.
He looked down in remorse. His eyes were puffed up and face in distress. She wasnsurprised men cry too but they behaved like the strongest creatures and she strolled closer to peek on his face closer.He looked up to her with sorry eyes. But this was not time to pity him. She was still enraged on him.
“What do you want? Can’t you talk?” she spoke calmly but her anger was boiling up.
” Babe…. Look …. I want….. I’ m sorry,” he stuttered like a broken record.
” What ….” she looked puzzled and titled her head and tried to walk away.
” Babe,” he grabbed her hand and she shook his hand off roughly. She frowned at him as if he was disgusting.
” I ‘ m your babe now?” She fake grinned hernhands dramatically pointing at herself. She took a deep breath thinking of what words would piss him off.
” You repulse me “
She clicked her tongue and went inside the house. Her mother was eavesdropping but Nancy threw herself on the sofa as if nothing was happening but that she was exhausted from hard work . She exhaled deeply and sighed. Her mother sat close her. Nancy looked up the ceiling and sighed again.
” What is happening?” her mother asked concerned.
Nancy gasped ,seemed shocked with the personal question. She knew that this issue with Malvin was her business and her mother shouldn’t know her love life ,it sounded disrespectful to let her know. Even though her mother liked Malvin ,she wouldn’t give any details of her relationship.She grabbed her bag quietly and walked to her room.
” Is everything okay?” she asked loudly. The look in Nancy eyes light a flicker of fear inside her.
” Yes mama,everything good!”
She threw herself on bed and punched the bed harshly . She loved Malvin but she couldn’t take him back and she was still digesting what happened with Richard. She realized from beginning that she never felt for Richard but she needed something to hang on. Malvin was the love of her life,even though he was stupid and a woman chaser. She grabbed a notebook and write down what good Malvin had done for her,the list was long.
” I can’t forgive you,” she muttered through her breath.
She kept checking her phone ,maybe Richard would call. He made a mistake not many mistakes like Malvin’s .She could forgive him but her heart was vouching for Malvin. The mind wanted a new man ,that was Richard . Her heart wanted Malvin. The mind and heart were fighting on whatchoice to make until blood didnt know which way to move to and she felt a headache and she fell asleep.
Her mother had been calling her for dinner but no response. She found Nancy with shoes on bed ,sound sleepy. She removed the shoes and covered Nancy with a soft fleece . There was a loud sound hoot coming from outside,she checked through the window and notice Malvin walking up and down with his hands on his waist. He looked in distress.
” Daughter ,what is happening with Malvin? He is still here,” she grumbled and went to sleep.
The alarm sound woke Nancy up the next morning, she was shocked that she didn’t have a shower before bed,her body stenched a bad odur of sweat . She wondered who covered her with a fleece blanket and removed her shoes. She only recalled lying on bed. She realized her mother might seen her secret notebook and she searched for it. It was still tucked under her pillow.
” I hope you didn’t read it mom……. No,you can’t even read my English,” she chuckled and put the book between the mattress and base of bed before jumpin to shower.
She dressed up in jeans and a white top since it was activities day for the toddlers. She was looking forward to it and she was glad she found a distractions to her love misfortunes.
” Morning mama,” she smiled and sat to eat breakfast.
” Morning ,child,” she sipped her herbal tea while glancing at her and raising her eyebrows in thoughts.
Her mother made pancakes and sprinkled with honey syrup which was her favorite. She even made cheese and ham sandwiches for later.
” Thank you mama,” she pop a piece of the pancake in her mouth.
” Malvin slept in the car whole night,” she cautioned and sipped her tea while hiding her eyes.
” What?” she nearly choked with the pancake which she shoved in her mouth and coughed.
” Are you serious?” she asked coughing.
Her mother nodded and Nancy raced to the window and found his car was parked near their gate. Malvin looked worn out but her heart skipped a bitHer sweet smike flushed out like then sun finding a break in the clouds on a grey day. Her dead body seemed to revive back to health. The thought of Malvin awaken her soul.
” We just had a misunderstanding,” she licked her mouth and avoided eye contact with her mother who always knew if she was losing..
” Shame, poor man,” her mother tilted her head again.
While she glanced through the window, her heart was rejoicing . Malvin the one she met two years ago was back,she wished it was easier but her mind was making a battle with her mind.
” You got to fix it,” her mother continued. She raised her eyebrows in agreement and glanced at the window.
