CHAPTER 1
” That’s a beautiful story. Ariel will have beautiful babies,” she said excited.
There was a hum of concern between the toddlers. Nancy was a nursery teacher at Five Dot Nursery. The children loved her because she read them interesting stories . She was caring,kind and patient towards them, in other words she was softer than their parents
“Please read another one,” a boy spoke loudly, pleadingly.
” The bell has rang…. It’s time for lunch,hurry before you get served less,” she dismissed the children.
” The food will finish hurry”
The children sighed in boredom and raced to the dining room. Others walked slower as if they wanted to be served less.
She sat on the chair and took a deep breath. Her love life was not the way she dreamt off. Malvin was her partner,her boyfriend but he never appreciated the way she loved him . He suddenly treated her salad as raw egg. He no longer gazed her for long anymore,he gets busy with phone and his eyes wandering around. He was a smart and handsome guy with smooth beautiful skin. Lately he started dressing in fancy trendy jeans and shirts. She was afraid of losing him. Even though he knew she was fragile, he kept ignoring her when she needed him the most. He was always offish and not even noticing he was with her.He no longer made butterflies in her stomach His eyes would wander around when woman pass while he was with Nancy, checking the curves and structure. It made her feel unloved and unwanted.
She looked through the window and saw a couple hugging each other,they loved lovely . The couple reminded of one day when it was her birthday. She invited him for lunch but he was busy pouring his eyes on every woman who passed by. She expected a birthday present but hee left eye trickled meaning she would get hurt instead. They sat in the China Mall,at the center where benches were placed for tired shoppers. Many couples would sit there and children too eating or socializing. It had a beautiful view with flowers and green carpeted grass. Nancy loved that place,she wished he would propose to her on a place like that. There were birds chirping in a tree behind making magical sounds.
” What did you buy me for my birthday?” she muttered under her breath.
He couldn’t look at her and didn’t even hear her. He wasn’t aware of the music in Nancy’s ears. Her heart ached for attention. Their relationship turned to brotherly and sisterly, she hoped he would tell her she was the most beautiful being on earth. The chemistry was gone and forgotten but her love was still there. She didn’t know if he felt the same. They just meet and no conservation ,they became
completely stangers.
She nudged him on his spine with her elbow,bringing him back to reality. She notice he was distracted by woman in make up and dressed up in trendy clothes. At first he loved her simple clothes and natural hair but he seemed to be adoring women in horse’s tails
” What ?…….mmmm…. You know I need to go,” he jumped from his seat when a woman with big curves and a cleavage revealed through her chest passed them by.
He kissed her and hurried off in the woman’s direction. She frowned and threw her back on bench forgetting a woman who was sitting next to her with a child. The bench would have tipped and fell. She threw her hands on her face in pain and sighed with a deep breath that followed
“Trouble in paradise,”she whispered and Nancy nodded with boredom on her face.
Nancy adored the child with sparkling eyes and smile while he waited for ice cream from his mother.He clapped his hands playfully. The child reminded her of her class. She loved watching the little smiles, one day she did want to have her own child.
” I also don’t understand this gender,” the woman added opening a ice cream for her child,who smiled and playfully jumped . The woman had five ice cream, she gave Nancy another.
“Here is one for you,” she said gently.
Nancy jumped and quickly opened it like a child who had been impatient. Finally someone spoiled her,she deserved it. She popped it her mouth quickly and the woman was more vigilant than with her own child.
” Don’t eat like that, it will choke you,” she warned her.
The ice cooled Nancy’s anger and disappointment. She licked it slowly,the woman was right. Some ice was in her throat causing discomfort but she was embarrassed to tell. Lucky the sun was scorching hot and the ice slipped into her oesaphagus. Her stomach growled because she needed something warmer.
” You are hungry too?” the woman laughed. Nancy smiled, she wanted to go back to work but she craved for spicy wings and crispy fries with her boyfriend didn’t care about her.
” Its my birthday,” she said sadly, licking the ice cream stick.
” Thank you for this,” she said lifting her eyebrows up and throwing the stick in the bin,next to her.
She stood up and wiped dust off her jean and the woman grabbed her hand. She was surprised by the gesture and panicked that maybe the woman wanted money for the ice cream,
” Let’s go have fun in KFC,I wanted to spoil my boy,it’s his birthday too,” she gestured with her head and packed all her stuff in a bag.
