I am a south African

I am a country girl

I am born of great kings and queens of this continent.

I am the princess of beads

I am the mother of intricate creations

With my tiny long finger

I just weave together

Beads by beads

The small colourful grain from abroad

and make a statement.

I just dream of a day

Where all South Africans will have a daily ration

Where every child will go to school

Where every sick person will afford medication

Where crime will be a folktale from the past

When this, our country, will be a pilgrimage

And then we will arrive.
