I never thought getting married would be this fun. I got married at an early age, I was 26 years my now husband was 30 years. It was not a smooth sailing journey at first but with the family and support they gave us we didn’t suffer a lot. We relocated back home in 2019 after living in Cape Town were we met. Gqeberha is our home town we were both born and raised here. In 2017 my husband proposed and I gladly said yes 2 years later we tied the knot. After relocating as newly weds life took a left turn. We were both unemployed with only savings and machinery for doing t-shirts,so we took a decision to open a container and start a mini internet Cafe. We bought a laptop, printer, mini bar fridge and inks for the printer. The services we offer were t-shirt printing, photocopying, typing of CV’s, we sold cool drinks, photo print outs and project research for school kids. This were good up until Covid.Covid heat so hard that we had to close and we lost a lot of money.2 years down the line I managed to get a job as an EA at a school I studied at.I was able to bring food on the table and my husband re opened the container, things were looking good for us once again. In 2021 my husband was robbed and stabbed he almost lost his life.He was hospitalized for 4 months, the container closed again. Now this incident took a toll on me.I was not coping not knowing if he would make it. I went into a deep depression and I lost weight,my colleagues were so worried and supportive. We managed to pull through. He was back home but was limited in doing the things he was used to as he had to be careful for his stitches. His full recovery was 3 months after being hospitalized for 4 months. I stood by my man, helping him to bath, clothing and physio. He recovered and started exercising I joined him and it was fun and exciting doing things with him again without seeing him in pain. Our Journey was not easy but we managed to stick with each other with every abstlacle in our way.We pulled through,we committed to the vows we took for better or worse. The new beginnings started early 2022 when he got his first job since 2019, he is now a maintenance guy at a HotelI remember when he got the call for interview he cried and gave me a hug and said “I don’t know what I would have done without you all these years, thank you for being patient with me”. He was overwhelmed with Joy so was I. He got the job and things have been better we are now ready to start our family. Happily ever after is a real thing if you are willing to under go the test and trails of the journey. We are a living testimony of unity is everything in any kind of relationship.
