The three words that sound so simple,
Yet they mean so much.
At least they should
Because I know to some people, they mean nothing.
To some something,
But to others everything
To those the words mean nothing
Their lips are used to them.
So much they come out every time they open.
In a middle of nowhere
They blurt out “I love you.”
For no reason
They never know why.
They never understand the meaning.
The deep meaning
But they know the words make people smile.
So, in a nutshell they are using these words in vain.
And as a weapon
A weapon when others have none.
I like to think they are not good people.
But then I also like to think that maybe
They used to know, feel and understand these words.
Until some point in their lives
Like me I call them out, but I secretly relate.
To others the words mean something
They understand the words.
But it is not a big deal.
They could say it less often than the ones that say it every time.
But still fifty percent of the time they don’t mean it.
“I love you”, they say.
But they don’t say It’s not that deep.
It’s something I could easily just brush off.
It’s something but it’s nothing too.
It’s a combination of the two It’s pretty confusing.
Like yeah, I do feel the blood-flow to my heart,
And the butterflies in my stomach
But it’s not enough to stop me from hurting you.
To those the words mean everything
They don’t just understand the words.
They live the words.
They feel the words.
They never say it unless their voices are in sync with their heartbeat.
When these people say “I love you”
The universe listens.
The earth becomes silent.
They mean it comes from within
They don’t just play around with it.
These are the people that fight for these words.
They fight for these words, and they fight with these words.
These are the people that stomp on “I hate you” with these words.
The words do not only come with a warm feeling.
They come with promises.
With protection
They come with assurance.
These are the people that love till death.
Different people say I love you.
For one of the reasons, it’s hard to tell.
But my mom says it’s in the eyes.
She says the eyes tell you.
They tell you the truth I don’t know but
The eyes are always blank with me.
Each time someone says “I love you” to me.
Their eyes are blank.
They say nothing, I never know.
But I always say it back.
And I wonder what my eyes say to them.
