Have you ever wondered where South Africa could have been if it wasn’t for racism and apartheid? How we could have been thriving as a nation and perhaps on the path to being a developed nation? We could have been a far better nation had we been united. Not that I am putting all the blame on racism for the problems and misfortunes of South Africa, but it played and still plays a part in how South Africa is shaped today. More than 20 years into democracy, the effects of racism and apartheid are still felt. And things are taking a turn for the worst.

What I am trying to get across is that had white people or the apartheid regime treated black people and other races for that matter and gave us the same education opportunities, imagine where we could have been. Apartheid and racism on their own created impoverished Africans. It created many poor black people living in squatter camps. If equality, better housing, and better living conditions were given to the majority, there would have been no squatter camps. Well, at least not many as we see today.

This begs the question that if white people were pleased with themselves with seeing black people suffering and living in conditions that were not fit for a human. Did they get satisfaction with stripping us of our human dignity? There was no way South Africa could flourish and come out at the top because there was no unity. After all, the strength of a chain is in its weakest link. The rot was inside. And my question was, if they hated Africans so much, what are they doing in Africa? The division makes it easier for South Africa to be conquered by other nations because it has destroyed itself from within. But that’s my opinion. What do you think?
