I suppose my findings about initiation SCHs won’t be de-emphasised though they are applied according to my observations.

We all have a part of a culture that is passed from person to person or generation to generation, possibly differing in details, such as the way to circumcision. As you can see to this day young boys and young adults are still going to initiation SCHs, whereas majority prefer going to the hospital for a circumcision.

I have been around mutual friends and some regret going to initiation SCHs, I found that their entire experiences are very much similar though they didn’t go to the same initiation.

Accordingly, their statements definitely rose my eyebrows, I heard enough. However, I’m here to talk about how some of the rituals and experiences that affected their lives and behaviours. I don’t know exactly how, but I can guarantee for a fact that something influenced them to be out of control.

I remember correctly, two years back at the end of July, I stumbled upon a nearby resident at the local tavern, it happens that he was coming home from initiation SCH. I never saw him smoking, drinking alcohol, or doing any kind of drugs before then.

To my surprise, I realised that many young boys or young adults who come from the initiation SCHs are mostly out of place. They either become dropouts, junkies, etc. The question is what has got into them, what could have influenced them to think doing drugs makes them man?

I’m questioning the significance of initiation school, they should at least commence a session to teach about drugs, AIDS and many other important related topics that may motivate and better their lives. Instead, they allowed them to smuggle cigarettes during their time of initiation, which resulted in the continuation of drugs and that leaves the community in danger.
