In the world that we living in now we no longer distinguish between a joke and a serious thing. And social media platforms have a huge part or is a stage where everything is turn into a joke. Beat by beat we lose humanity without noticing.

What is a joke? A joke is something said or done for amusement, not in seriousness. A joke makes us laugh and to laugh it’s part of human nature. What do we call a person who laughs at something that not a joke? I don’t know word in English but in isizulu we call such person “inhlekabayeni” because he laughs at everything even things that are serious.

There are things that are created and meant to make people laugh, such as sitcoms, standing comedians and comedies. Today tables have turned, we laugh on things that we shouldn’t laugh at. There are myriads of edited videos you find in social media platforms, when watching that video you find something that considered as a disgrace but it’s turn into a joke, something considered as shame fullness but it’s turn into a joke, something that’s painful to watch but it’s turn into a joke. Those videos are edited and they’re accompanied by laughing emojis and some texts too!

How can you laugh when someone is befell by bad something? How can you laugh when someone is dying or getting hurt is either by someone or by something? Today what is wrong is right and what is right is wrong. And what we are good at when we capturing that scene, it sound or typical to capture something that will prove as evidence when opening a case or when seeking for some justice. We are laughing at everything, everything is a joke!

Perhaps it’s me who is left behind by syllabus. Maybe all these videos which are already circulating, some are just get uploaded they’re, some are instore taking place for sitcoms and comedies who knows… Let me ask you, is it everything need to be laugh at? There are some things that are shouldn’t be laughed at, am I lying? What are those things ? Nowadays we’ve become “izinhlekabayeni” I don’t have a specific term which pretty describes it (izinhlekabayeni) in English.

Suppose somebody is being stumbled and fall by something, instead of feel for him and say: sorry or any word just sympathize with him, we’d laugh at him, and we’re very swiftly to capture the scene! An innocent question: are we still normal people?

I am not against every videos and I’m not a saint myself, because I often find myself laughing when watching some videos but lately I realised that it’s not everything that I should laugh at. I told myself let me laugh only at jokes, things that are meant for it to make me laugh. Maybe I, one day I will be a joke and that videos will rove all over the world because, in this time we living in, everything is a joke (only to find I am joke but something bad occurred in me) I will trend! No one knows a tragedy before hand.

Maybe what I’m saying here it doesn’t make any sense to you. Let me be crystal clear: I don’t congest people to laugh at anything even serious things nor, who am I to do that! We’re very addicted to it because we get amusement on it. But beat by beat we’re losing a stigma of being humans, normal humans!

Not everything should be laughed at, but we laugh at them anyways because everything now it is turn into a joke!
