Chikumbutso Gasper Willard, a multi-talented individual, emerged as a prominent figure in journalism, writing, social media management, filmmaking, and communication. Born on June 30, 1998, in Malawi’s Mulanje District, his writing journey ignited in 2015 through sharing fiction stories within the online community of Malawi wathu on Facebook.

In 2017, Chikumbutso paused his writing pursuits to hone his craft, focusing on enhancing both his writing and storytelling skills. During this time, he crossed paths with seasoned writer Charles Twitch Nyerere, who became his mentor in the art of storytelling and writing.

Under the guidance of Nyerere, Chikumbutso ventured into the film industry, directing the successful short TV series “Kuswakuswa” in collaboration with Dawn Theater Arts. His background in journalism further propelled him into crafting candid news articles, centering on politics, sports, and entertainment.

Drawing inspiration from literary works like Tiyambe Zaleza’s “Smouldering Charcoal,” Alan Paton’s “Cry, the Beloved Country,” and Ayi Kwei Armah’s “The Beautyful Ones Are Not Yet Born,” Chikumbutso began crafting engaging fictional and real-life stories on his Facebook page, garnering impressive engagement from his audience.
