I’ve never been normal; I’ve always been abnormal in more than one way.

Hi, I’m Nhlamulo Mthombeni, and I’m telling you about my abnormality.

Psychic abilities, genius and naturally gifted.

Let me start with me being a genius. I’ve always been the smart one, ”the perfect one” and the teacher’s favourite. The school has been tough as people would tease me, calling me names such as bookworm, geek, and nerd-force-one and it’s really painful when people are calling me names, that’s them bullying me. I don’t blame them for calling me an alien as I also feel like an alien.

Being the smart one brings a lot of attention and praises from teachers but also brings a lot of bullying from learners who are jealous of me and envy me. Being smart is a blessing and a curse.

Next it’s naturally gifted. You won’t believe but I’m the lead singer in the school choir, lead actress in the school drama club, lead dancer in the school dance community, in the chess club, debate team, maths league and computer squad. I’m also in the Supermodel team and art club. That’s a lot but I have done it all in this one year.

Now comes my secret. I have supernatural abilities. I can feel supernatural energy but it’s stronger at night than at daytime. I can see and hear people from the spiritual realm and I also feel their emotions. Nobody knows this about me, not even my family. I can’t remember 95% of my dreams.

I’m afraid to tell my parents because what if I have a calling. I don’t want to go to initiation school, I don’t wanna cut my beautiful, long, chocolate hair. It took me forever to grow. I don’t want to tell my school because that’s a Christian school and instead of bookworm, they’ll call me freak.

My abnormality makes me a goodhearted person who people easily take advantage of. Not anymore.

I’m not normal, I’m abnormal and I’m proud of it because I’m not ordinary like everyone else, I’m extraordinary.

If you’re abnormal like me than be proud of it, you have something that makes you extraordinary.
