I sat down and started to write an exercise. Suddenly she was there, in my class with Loyal. She is friends with Loyal, I thought, I can ask Loyal who she is and more details. Loyal was in my class. I kept staring at the girl, her blonde hair and smile until we met eye-to-ye. She faced down and walked away. She seems to be avoiding me or maybe she didn’t like me.

Loyal will make things easy, she will tell me all about her, I thought. Lunch was over and students got back into the class. I was in a good mood and smiled as I wrote notes down. The teacher gave us some drawing to copy in our books. Gary was sitting next to me and Memory a bit far.

I have been friends with Gary and Memory since I started my course. Gary and Memory were dating and I was the only one single. They would laugh at me all the time because they said I was afraid of girls.

“Your mood suddenly changed, what’s up?” Gary whispered.

“I’ve got a plan,” I answered in a low voice.

Gary shook his head and we focused on the lesson quietly while Memory kept staring at me. When the lesson was over I rushed to Loyal as she rushed out.

“Loyal wait,” I called out.

“Hey Romeo,” she said smiling.

“Uhm I want to know your friend’s name,” I said shyly.

“Which one?” she asked while her friends became concerned about me.

“The blonde, tall girl you were with,” I said calmly.

“You mean Lucy,” she laughed.

“Please tell me who she is, her class and number,” I said.

“Go to hell,” she spoke rudely and left.

I got depressed when I faced the room; all those memories of Lucy and I. I had to get my girl back in my arms. We always fought but she never left. We would solve our issues. I didn’t sleep well. I woke up at ten because I was so drunk.
I cleaned the house and ate the food she had cooked. She hadn’t eaten and I was at fault at fault. I had to make up with her. I bathed and got dressed. I took a taxi to town and went straight to the jewellery shop. I bought another promise ring and some roses, she liked them red.

I took a walk in the neighbourhood, after the taxi dropped me close to Memory’s place. I hoped she can forgive me. I saw Gary by the corner with Memory. They looked very cosy.

“Trouble in Paradise?” He shouted and I ignored him. Gary knew how I felt by just looking at my face. I found Lucy sitting outside reading a book. I walked inside the gate but she never lifted her head. There was an empty chair besides her.

“Hello,” I said nervously.

I put the flowers on her lap and she looked up and stared at me.

“What do you want?” she shouted.

“Baby, please forgive me. I should have kept my promise,” I begged. My face looked down to show remorse. She liked smacking things when she was angry with me. I would always calm her down with a kiss but not this time. I took out the box with the ring, she got puzzled.

She put her book down and watched me open the box.

“I love you, Lucy. I can’t live my life without you,” I said sincerely.

She took the ring and wore it. I stood up and she hugged and kissed me.
