“Look, Joyce got married to a man on Facebook!” Charlotte squeaked.

Amanda was busy doing paperwork and pretended not to hear. Charlotte slid her phone onto the table and Amanda looked jealous. This was all she wanted. Joyce looked happy and the husband was handsome. As she scrolled through the pics she noticed a baby, so adorable. If this could happen for Joyce then she should have some faith too, she thought.

“How do you meet this kind?” she asked as she scrolled through all the pictures.

The wedding was bliss, with a white dress, big white cake and the bridesmaids. That gave her another a sign of hope.

“Such beautiful pictures and Joyce is happy at last,” she said, smiling.

Charlotte nodded and grunted. “When was the last time you were on Facebook? You only have ten friends, you better start requesting males only,” said Charlotte, packing up the paperwork.

Amanda pushed her away. They were behaving like two teenagers but Amanda wanted to do it later. She was a workaholic and it had been a long time since she dated: she didn’t want to sound desperate.

“I am working…Charl…” she sighed angrily. Charlotte slapped Amanda’s hands off the papers and put the documents away.

“You need to start searching for friends…men,” Charlotte said, regaining her composure.

Amanda finally gave up and allowed Charlotte to place her laptop on the table. She winked and smiled at her as she opened the laptop.

“Go into your account,” she ordered, ready to smack her friend if she wouldn’t.

“Eish…You won’t give up,” Amanda sighed. She began to type.

“You will thank me later,” Charlotte chuckled and brushed her cheek.

Amanda was shocked to find 100 friend requests. Charlotte leaned on her shoulder watching everything she did.

“Look, there are so many guys requesting you!” she screamed, happily.

“When was the last time you opened your account?” she continued, breathing heavily in Amanda’s ears. It was annoying her but she was used to it.

Charlotte was right: Amanda was never on Facebook, and she sometimes forgot about it. There was nothing interesting except people bragging about new hair, new clothes, trends and beauty. Charlotte never gave up a good case. She was her best friend, they shared everything, though Amanda was resistant to her behaviour.

“Accept them, I’m sure ten of these guys will inbox you,” Charlotte said seriously.

Amanda stared at her, then back at the screen. There was a guy that caught her attention, Trey Gimm. He looked handsome but he was in another province. She looked at his picture for a long time. He had catlike eyes and lovely lips, and the smile made her weak at the knees.

“You like him? Why don’t you start with him?” Charlotte suggested, but Amanda shook her head and laughed.

“I don’t even know him,” she chuckled and turned off the laptop.

“He is cute right?” Charlotte winked and nudged her.

She smiled, knowing her friend was always nosey but right. She imagined sending a message and him ignoring it. On the other hand, she imagined him answering, and she giggled.

“You’re already in love,” Charlotte said, laughing.

It was weird and funny, but it would be a good sign if he was the first to message her.
