Throughout the night
I dream of flight
I’m soaring above the clouds
All my horrors left behind

My mind is at rest
No screams or muffled cries
Coming from my dear mother
Who has lost her only soulmate

His scent still lingers
Even in my sleep,
The hairs in my nostrils
Are tingled by it

He called me Andromeda
Inkanyezi,
A star
Wedged between her mother and father

As the memories rush in
The tears rain down
Drowning out momma’s
Wails and sobs

I wish the dreams would never end
But in this world you can’t dream forever

Not for a second will I forget him
Until the day we meet again
