In my country, I see policemen and policewomen.
I see men and women in military gear.
Faces covered like men with ill intentions.
I see doctors and nurses.

In my country, I hope I never hear
Of yet another death the radio man’s announcing.
I beg you Mr Radio Man
Tell me the dreaded coronavirus is dead.

In my country, I strive to do as told.
To heed the call to stay home and stay sanitised.
To do my bit to preserve the most basic right of all – the right to live.
