When the rain drops fell
on the dry lips of the soil,
it quenched the soil’s thirst.
All in multiples of one,
it hit the ground.
A sweet voice behind me
sang the melodies of death.
I crumbled and was crushed,
as I watched the coffin go into the hearse.
It led us to the bedroom
of those with silent voices.
A massive march of pain from my core
sent tears to melt my eyes.
The man of God commenced
with a heart-gashing prayer.
I wanted to depart with her soul,
as I watched the ground open its mouth wide
to swallow the mother of my mother.
So soon the stomach won’t be satisfied anymore and then
I shall be swallowed to meet thee again.
RIP Grandma.
