Held captive in my own thoughts.
In my mind,
there lies the greatest battle I will ever fight,
where happiness and self-esteem
are held in the cage of drought.
Dried out day by day as tears from my eyes fall out,
’causing the battle ground to be muddy, so I slip and fall
and watch this ANXIETY shut me down.
I look at them seeing the peaceful captive,
head up high and crowned.
Yet crowned with the crown of fake smiles and happiness.
For none of them know the greatest battle lies in my mind.
