So after that night
After that cold and spiteful night
When envy slightly crippled me,
And nearly took my life.
I swore I’d never trust again.

After that night
After that dark dreary night,
When luck drove passed me,
And fear forced me to hang up
On the devil’s call.
I promised myself
I’d do whatever it took
So long as I didn’t fall.

So after I fell
On one knee that night,
After anger fastened its seat belt,
And ran me over,
I felt my dignity split in two.
But who?
Who did this?
Who ran me over
Before I could even see?
Who would do such a thing to me?

This is a reflection poem based on an accident that occurred in 2015.
