Am I not a black man
The true reflection of Africa
I am a son born of this soil
I am a son raised by a black nation
My nation – Africa
Today I am treated like I am not of this soil
Today I am called a criminal
Today I am regarded as a threat
Today I am not human
Am I not a black man – the true reflection of Africa
Years ago I would have accommodated sons of
My nation the Southern Africa
But today I am not accommodated
Am I not a black man – the true reflection of Africa
You and I are born of the same mother and father
I am a woman who stays months in her home after her husband’s passing
I am a man who takes off his hat when entering a home
Are you not the same?
I am a black man- true reflection of Africa
