(Mr Phiri and Dipuo are left puzzled by Khumo’s response. Dipuo is the lady who took Kefilwe’s sugar daddy and made him abandon his daughter)

Mr Phiri:: Are you happy now, you little devil? Are you happy that you were able to make me turn my back on my family?

Dipuo: Don’t talk to me like that.

Mr Phiri:: Get out of my car. I don’t want to ever see you again, and don’t come to my house anymore.

Dipuo: Please Bokang, you can’t do that to me. You know I’ve got nowhere else to go.

Mr Phiri:: I don’t care. I’ve found someone to replace you.

Dipuo: You’re going to regret this.

(The next day, Mr Phiri went back to the Molepo’s household to try and win his daughter back)

Mr Phiri: (Knocking) Greetings, may I see Khumoetsile?

Mr M Khumo is still sleeping, so I’ll ask my wife to go and wake her up.

Mr Phiri:: I’ll really appreciate that, sir

(Khumo enters the living room still in her pj’s, and is followed by Mrs M behind her)

Khumo: Morning, what’s popping? Why was I woken up so early?

Mrs M: Your father, I mean…

Mr Phiri: …is here to talk to you, (looking at Mr M)

Mr M:…my love, let’s give them some space.

Mr Phiri:: You look like your mother when I first met her.

Khumo: Really? (she found herself smiling). My mom was beautiful, and I look nothing like her.

Mr Phiri:: My child, please come with me. Allow me to take you to your home and give you the love I failed to give you for 14 years. I am the only parent you have left, and I promise to be there for you.

(Mr Phiri and Khumoetsile arrive at one of Mr Phiri’s houses in Waterfall, Midrand)

Mr Phiri:: Welcome home my daughter. Let me show you to your room.

Khumo: (She couldn’t believe she finally agreed to come with that man) Alright.

Mr Phiri:: There it is (Pointing to a room that has a king sized bed and an en suite bathroom).

Khumo: Is that my bedroom, I mean the bedroom that I’ll be using!!?

Mr Phiri:: (laughing) That’s your bedroom, and it belongs to you. Come, let me show you the rest of the house.

(They enter what seemed to Khumo like a museum at the basement)

Mr Phiri:: I come here when I want to remember the reason why I wake up every day and make money. Khumo, My daughter, I love you, and you are the only child I have on this Earth. Your mother and I … actually, your mother named you Khumoetsile because she believed wealth had come.
Khumo: (Starts to get emotional while her father talks to her about her mom) Daddy, why didn’t you try to come back for me and mommy?

Mr Phiri:: (His phone rings from his pocket) Sorry, but I really have to answer this call.
