” I told you that woman is suspicious…. she hurt her wrist and blamed​ Adam for it,” he buried his head in his hand and clicked the tongue. He ran his fingers around his head as if he was scratching. 

” There aren’t any fingerprints on her”

” Sir ,but the woman haven’t said anything. All she do is point finger and murmur inaudibly,” he replied.

Officer Nathan had released Adam but warned​ him to stay away from the case and the woman. Adam thought it was better he cleared his name and would do anything to prove his innocence.

” Let the police do their job ,” he recalled being warned.

Officer Nathan was sitting with two other police officers in the investigation room which had a table on centre and chairs around it. There were piles on papers and files on it. A table with jar of water was on the corner of the room . Captain Wayne wasn’t happy with the outcome of case . He entered and joined them on a very hot day,he poured a glass of water and gulped it slowly. The investigation room which was dark wasn’t making it easy for them. The heat crept on their skin and sweated profusely behind their backs.

” Is the woman dumb or in shock?” Captain Wayne asked and leaned his back on the chair which made a squeaky sound.

” She did talk but her words are useless. Maybe she is in shock ,” he answered and jotted something in his note pad.

” The woman must be put in a safe place… Wait! What is going on?”Captain Wayne thought something was fishy when he thought deeper of the woman behavior.

” The counselor said she was fine to go and not in danger,” he replied and kept jotting in his notepad while staring at pictures of the dark alley .

Captain Wayne rolled his eyes in thought . He still couldn’t get what the woman was released from their hands. He didn’t understand how a woman who had signs of being abused released to the sick world while the perpetrator roaming free.

“Nathan,you are a good police officer but you keep saying Adam is some how involved…What do you say to prove it,” he cleared his throat.

” Sir ,I don’t know what to believe now. Maybe we should investigate further like spying on that woman,” he suggested.

” No ,that is a bad idea… If the woman is being threatened to keep quiet,we will find her one day dead,” Captain Wayne shook his head.

” You are right… We don’t know who we are dealing with,” he sighed.

” I will prove my innocence… That woman is bad luck,” he sat on the bench in a park, clicking his tongue and cursing .

Adam sat in the park one sunny day,it was after three days being released. He hated the police because they didn’t listen to him but treated him like a criminal. He couldn’t forget how Officer leaned his knee on his stomach, threatening to kill him if he didn’t tell the truth.

” What do I do if I see that hood man again?” he sighed and stare at the bird that flew past him and which flew in the tree. The scent of flowers in spring seemed to give him hope and courage ,after he thought he lost his dignity.

Something caught his eye when he looked at the road. The black car was parked on the side of road. There was​ a tall man with mean face and muscular arms. He put the hood on his head. Adam remembered this figure. The hood man appeared to be given something by driver and he walked away. Adam​ sweated profusely and his instincts told him that he knows​ this man but his broad and muscular statue. He quickly rushed to tail him but he lost him in the crowd. 

The black range Rover appeared again near the Mall of Zion and he was relieved and he hid behind a van while watching 5 girls walk out the car. The girls wore clothes revealing their legs and cleavage. They had beautiful bodies and the driver whispered as if he was instructing them . Adam was peeking around the van while his mid race around for a plan to help the girls. He knew if he ran and attacked​ the driver ,he would lose them all.

” Some one will pick you up ,” he ordered.

Adam saw a red golf GTI left with it’s keys by a old man in a grey suit . The driver entered a pub a few metres away and Adam jumped in the car quickly. He was sure it was the best thing to do.He whistled to the girls like he was the man who was picking them up,he winked his eyes.

” Let’s go girls,” he spoke gently while smiling..

The girls were shivering and they looked at each other with questions in their eyes to enter the car or not. In a minute they all jumped in. Adam​ smiled that his plan worked and he drove .

” I’m​ here to help you. I will take you to police station,” he watched them through the rearview .

One of the girl was scared than others and she murmured,” They will kill us”

” No ,you won’t as long you say the truth,” he spoke gently ,assuring them.

They walked in the police station but Wayne wasn’t happy. He came to attacked​ Adam while he was giving his statement to a police officer on the reception centre.

” You again? You need to put in a cell,” he hissed and shoved him aside.

Captain heard the commotion and asked a police officer to handle the girls .

” What do you think you doing? Did you see that girl with afro? ….She went missing a month again,” he pressed his hands around Officer Nathan.

” Serious?” he took a deep breath.

” I told you I would find evidence and you I don’t know why you hate me,” Adam blurted in rage ,pointing his finger of Office Nathan.

He fixed his shirt and walked to the door. He face mocked the officer and he clicked his tongue as he walked slowly .

” Hey…Come back ,” Captain shouted .
