He drove in a neighborhood I don’t even know, with houses that have high walls. He opened the gate with a remote and drove inside, he parked the car in a driveway and came to open the door for me.

“Where are we?”

“Rosebank.” He said taking me inside the gigantic house. He let me sit down and quickly went to the other side of the house which I assume is the kitchen.

He came back holding a cup of something and a bottle of beer he gave me a cup, which I realised that it is hot chocolate.” It will calm you down.” He said as he opened his beer with his hand.

He looked at me like I am the most interesting person he has ever met in his life. “Thanks.” I said taking a sip of my hot coco. I don’t know how to feel about everything from back at home to me being here at this moment.

I held on the cup with both my hands, it was the one thing that made me not to shake my hands, I tend to do that when I’m nervous.

“You deserve to be happy.” Katlego said after a while, breaking the silence. “You should also be proud of yourself for standing against your parents.”

I nod, I finish my last bit of my coco and stood up “Thanks for this, it really did help with my nerves.”

I placed the cup on the coffee table and took my bag on the floor “I should get back.”

Katlego also stood up “You don’t really think I’ll let you go alone now do you?”

He takes his car keys that he threw on the table when we walked in and we headed to the car on our way back, he barely said one word maybe because he does not want to make me uncomfortable but whatever the reason is I am glad for the silence.

He parks outside my apartment at waterfall, I turn to look at him and surprisingly find his eyes on me. “Thanks for the ride.”

I open the door and walk up to the gate, expecting the security to open but he just stood there. I cleared my throat he looks at me like he has not seen me walk in here a gazillion times “I can’t let you in.”

“What? Why?” I look at the time it is 10 p.m and I am exhausted I honestly have no time for this.

“Your mother told us never to let you in.” The security guard said and went back to his stand. I wanted to scream and growl, how can my own mother do this to me just because I refused to be with Jason.

I turned around now embarrassed, even more embarrassed when I saw that Katlego heard everything.

“You can sleep at my place.” He said opening the door for me.

On our way back I wanted to cry, but the tears would not come. My heart is broken but what I won’t do is give my parents that satisfaction of crawling back to them.
