“You don’t mean that,” Walter said.

“I do, don’t get me wrong, I love science and engineering and all – “

“But what? You want to drop out and go party. What about your parents’ sacrifice to put you here? All that hard work they put in.”

“That’s the thing! Work! Work for money,” Herb said.

“What’s your point exactly?” Walter said.

“I see things far beyond their appearance. My view is way past the surface.”

“You’re saying the same thing,” said Walter.

“Listen, my friend.”

“What do you see?”

“Where?”

“I don’t know.”

“Man, you crazy,” Walter laughed.

But Herb spoke. “The world is ruined because of money. Imagine a world where we eat, drink, shit, pee, sleep and repeat, no working for money. None of that evil paper. We only live for our hobbies and interests. Everything is free; free food, free houses, free clothes, free everything. No government. The world shares and works together. No one is poor. No one is rich. No crime because…there’s no money in the world. Everything is free!”

There was a long pause of silence. Then Walter slowly clapped his hands. “Wow,” he said. “The most stupid thing I’ve ever heard in my life, I doubt I’ll ever hear anything as dumb and silly as this again.” He laughed.
