I  came with a plan for transportation money. I told my mother the plan, that we should save money bit by bit until it’s enough for us to go and visit my father Thabiso. She agreed and said it was a good idea.
Sipho was the only breadwinner and he worked as a security guard at some block of flats, he only worked night shifts and got off on weekends.
When Sipho said he wanted to be my only father he meant it because he gave me all the love I needed wholeheartedly

and cared for me like I was his flesh and blood. You would swear that he was my real dad and honestly speaking I grew to love him also.

Even so I never entirely forgot about Thabiso but some memories of him started to fade away as I made new fun memories with Sipho. Now and then I would give my mother whatever little money I had to save as planned, so that we could visit my father one day.
On weekends Sipho would take me to parks or visit his friends to watch soccer matches. On his pay day he would come back from work and wake me up to freshen up so that we would go shopping and play some games at the mall.
Then later that day when his night shift started he would take me along with him to his work place. I would sit with him and guard the flats while playing some simple games until I was tired.
Sipho had befriended some white folks who had two girls around my age and a boy toddler.
When I was tired or bored he would take me to them and I would spend the rest of the night there until morning when he came fetch me to go home. It was so fun that it became our every month end routine.
