Melokuhle
Standing a few feet away from me was my dad; he looked nothing like his usual self. He had dark circles under his eyes as if he had not been sleeping the past few months.
I was filled with dozens of emotions all at once. I didn’t know whether I should be happy or sad.
He cracked a little smile, my heart broke at his sight, he has lost all the weight he had, he looked different.
Before I could process everything Melusi dragged me away and we disappeared from the thick crowd, half hoping that my father would yell and order Melusi to stop or do anything to cause a scene but nothing happened.
There was no chaos, no gasping of people nothing. They all just continued drinking their fancy wines as they laughed.
Melusi yanked me around and we stopped at the alcohol department. Melusi poured him a glass of a whiskey and drank it in one go.
And after that it was one drink after another but his hand never left me. Once we reached the deck he quickly took me into the car and drove off like an insane person.
I was surprised that he didn’t hit one car as drove inside the yard.
