It has been a week and today is the day the Captain is paying Thami a visit. I pace the floor with nothing to do, busy fiddling with my fingers willing myself not to call the Captain and demand answers.

“You are going to drill a hole on my floor.” My mother says as she looks at me going up and down, back and forth.

“It has been 2 hours already.” 2 hours and 38 minutes since the Captain told me he’ll be paying Thami a visit.

“Don’t you think if he knew something he would have called by now? Sometimes no news is good news.”

I sigh as I sit down she’s right but that is not enough to stop my anxiety and my racing heart.

Just as I was to stand up and pace, the police sirens drown out all the noise from outside. Police cars fill up the street, With my mind racing I run outside and arrive the minute the Captain comes out of the car holding Thingo in his arms.

Tears roll down my cheeks as I see the Captain walking towards me. “I think he missed his mother.” He smiles as he hands Thingo to me, I quickly take him into my arms “How? How did… How?”

“It was easy we found some bruises on Thingo so we charged him with child abuse and child negligence, we were about to arrest him when his girlfriend confessed that it was all her, she was the one who beat the child out of anger. But good news is that we managed to arrest him for money laundering and kidnapping, it also seems like he was deep into debt, it looks like he kidnapped Thingo because he wanted to speed up his inheritance pay out.”

“Thank you.”

The Captain waved it off like it was nothing “Now go and spend sometime with your son.”

I nod as I hurry back inside finding my mother praising God for bringing back her grandson back home “God is good.” She says in happy cheers as she takes Thingo in her arms “God is good.” She added softly more like a whisper.
