He sat on the chair in the darkness and still didn’t believe he was a minute close of purchasing a muti that would change his life. He could hear Jessica snoring.His mind was overworking and he started to wonder what if the muti was the genuine. The horrific event with the sangoma still played in his mind. Why was the sangoma forcing him ?

He couldn’t sleep after having Pap and beef stew which was his favorite prepared by Jessica. She came in the bedroom while rubbing her hands with a smug look on her face. It was after midnight,they sometimes slept in different rooms because of her pregnancy. Jessica would chase him out the room complaining he didn’t wash off whole day sweat ,she claimed it was smelly.

The bedroom was tiny that Bright understood it was small for three people. The room consitsted a queen size bed with a chest drawer on side with wardrobe on other side.There was a mirror on the chest drawer and a chair facing it. The space was for them to go to the other rooms and bathroom.Two drawers on each side of their bed and a old sofa near the window. 

” You also can’t sleep,” she sat on the bed and open the drawer. 

She took a paper that looked like a catalogue and stared at it for a long time. Bright thought it was good to talk but he wouldn’t talk about his earlier situation.

” Baby ,look this pastor is performing miracles,” she smiled and give him the paper.

He sniffed twice and stared​ at it and sighed,” Not this again,what is wrong with people?”

” What?”she asked confusedly.

” Do they really think they can heal HIV? And the doctors can’t?” he grits his teeth and growl in frustration.

Jessica opened her mouth in shock because Bright wasn’t harsh but gentle.

” It’s just to try,” she sighed .

” God does perform miracles,” she leaned on his chest.

“If only you didn’t cheat we wouldn’t be in this situation,” he said unconcerned.

” What?” she jumped and stared at him angrily.

” Was it I who brought the HIV……. You also cheated me,” she hissed.

“I did it because I was hurting. You send me to….Lovemore was loose and he must brought it. Remember he died with AIDS,” his voice quivered and he turned his face to the window.

Jessica sat on the bed and exhaled deeply remembering it was her fault but she had been blaming him for a long time. She was grateful Gerald made sure Bright took her back after her infidelity. It’s been so many years and they didn’t talk about this before. Gerald told them to keep the marriage and work out their issues but no one spoke about it . Jessica only avoided being near Lovemore. Bright took Tanya as his child even though he knew it wasn’t his.

.” I’m​ so sorry ,my husband. Please forgive me!” she sobbed and buried her face in her hands.

” It’s fine my love. You know​ I love you and I’m happy we are having our first child together,” he rubbed her shoulders and lay his head on her legs.

” I forgive you,” he muttered under his breath.

He remained clear of emotions.She smiled at him and rubbed the back of his head while staring at his face . She could smell the Oros juice that he had taken.

” Did you say this pastor is excellent,” he flicks his eyebrows and grinned wider than beforechanged because he hated talking about Lovemore.

” I don’t know but can we try ,” her voice could still show she was crying silently .

” Okay… This Sunday I will go to church,” he sat up and fixed his pillow.

” Time for bed,” he grabbed her in the blankets.

“Wait,I want to pee,” she was joking and pulling away from grip.

” I miss you my wife,” he murmured and smirked.

” Okay,” she joined him and lay her head on his hairy chest.

Jessica didn’t sleep but think about her past transgressions that nearly made her a single woman,she touched his chin while he snored softky. She thought she was lucky to have Bright because not every man listen to their father . One of her friends​ cheated on her husband and left her to suffer the worst part was he denied three of their children. She was hustling , Jessica realized her blessings because she never worked in her life . Bright build her a house in the village and support her financially. Now she stayed​ close to him and found someone to take care of her small farm and chicken,goats and cows in the village. She was indeed lucky.

” I hope you will one day really forgive me Bright,you are the only man for me,” she whispered to herself.

She looked at his face and noticed his smile found herself smiling​ when she saw him sound asleep.She kissed his chin and lay her hand on his chest.
