Rachel sits back on the couch as if debating what to tell me, not wanting to pressure her I look at what’s playing on Mzansi Magic I mean she can tell me what’s going in her own time.

When whatever TV show was playing went to a commercial she looks towards me “I have something to tell you.” taking my silence as an invitation she carries on “I got involved with bad people who turned me into a drug mule, it’s not as scary when you get used to it and it pays good money.”

“You transport drugs.”

“You think Jozi is easy wena? I had to do something to survive.”

Not believing my ears I get up and head to the window, she’s a drug mule the last thing I ever thought she will be.

“In this world it’s either eat or be eaten.” Her voice echoes from somewhere in the lounge. “And they somehow heard that you were here which is not good.”

I turn around to face here, my eyes following her as she pace around with worry on her face.

“It is really bad.”
