LET’S CHAT A LITTLE

Another three years has passed since the last meeting of Chulumanco and Thandeka, this time Chulumanco is back and he has parked his car on the roadside watching the stars. He is remembering his past with Thandeka when they used to watch the starry night together, the memories flashing through his mind are very clear as if it was just yesterday. He remembers how she loved the winter night sky and how shy she used to be around other people, she would use him as a shield to hide when she sees people so that they would not see her.

On the other hand Thandeka is also sitting outside her house watching the stars, it is winter and the sky is as beautiful as it was during that winter night when she and Chulumanco watched the stars together for the first time. “Thandeka Thandeka, what are you thinking? Five years has passed since you two broke up. He hasn’t contacted you all this while which means he has no you in his mind, five years, it’s understandable”. Thandeka tried to comfort herself but no one could take away the pain and longing of five years. She wiped her tears and went back inside the house.

It’s the morning and Thandeka is going to the shop, she enters the shop and sees Chulumanco and she greets him politely. Chulumanco responds coldly and went out of the shop, again she had to watch him walking past her coldly as if he was nothing but a stranger, it was indeed heartbreaking. Kush was the shop owner and little older than Thandeka asked her if she knew the man who just walked out because she thought his character was cool but just a little cold. And Thandeka politely responded that he has always been like that and that the two of them were not familiar with each other. She bought milk and bread and when she got out of the shop she found Chulumanco, she hesitated a little but then mastered the courage and walked past him.

As she was walking by Chulumanco said “how have you been?” She could not believe it and even hesitated if she was hallucinating and then turned back slowly and asked “did you say something?” Chulumanco repeated himself “how have you been in these past years?”
