Summer

The constant thudding of the roof,

The occasional rumble from the sky.

The sharp flashes of lightning.

The sky cracks and a piece of heaven peeps.

The summer is here.

The days are longer,

Families are closer,

Friends are closer,

Under the soft shade,

Reminiscing about the last summer.

The summer is here.

The sun is hotter,

But the heat between me and you fades.

The warm breeze swirls and hauls away,

But can’t seem to carry my feelings to your place.

The clouds are  now thick and huddled together,

Unlike us, divided by insecurities.

Summer is here,

I wish you were here.
