You told me I am grown now

I must behave like a grown-up

Mother, you told me everything

And anything

You told me I am about to see the world as it is

And it’s gonna hurt

Honestly, Mama it is hurting

Those experiences you said were yours

I’ve touched them

Now I understand that hopelessness I saw in your eyes

The burden is too much to carry

Nightmares,

It is as if we live in a world of nightmares

Dreams are the only things that give hopes

And dreams are the only thing that vanishes into thin air

And love is nowhere to be found when in misery

Self-care is love one can give and accept

If ever I teach my offspring of your lesson

Just know I did my best
