Will there ever come a time when we will be judged purely by our potential, skill, knowledge?

When the colour of our skin would not matter when we go for a job interview?
Here is an encounter:….Called Carolyne Smith,

I have black mother and a coloured father
My name is therefore Carolyne Smith
I was “privileged” enough to go to a model “c” School
My tongue is soft when I speak the universal language… “English”

I call responding to a job ad I saw on the newspaper
I call and am gladly asked to through for an interview
I’m excited as the lady on the other side of the line said I’m exactly who they’re looking for!

I arrive at this posh building, everything around is very sophisticated
I am greeted by a white lady the receptionist…who directs me to take a seat
Everyone passing by the reception area is white.

A lady comes who first checks her wrist watch, then goes to the receptionist to mumble something about her appointment being late. The receptionist ask if the lady sitting there is not the one she’s waiting for, she says with confidence, “No, I’m waiting for Carolyne Smith, a white lady.” as she sends a fake smile towards me.
I inform her as I stand up extending my hand for a handshake,
“I am Carolyne Smith,”
my complexion by the way, is nothing close to coloured or white…I AM BlACK
her face flushed in the colour red…
We had the “interview”, which was very awkward, but, i knew…
And IS WAAR…I NEVER got the job…
