I am sorry that I keep letting you down

I am sorry I keep making empty promises

I am sorry that you keep breaking into a million pieces

For something that you don’t deserve

I am sorry that you have to take unbearable pain

You are shattered with pieces

Clearly because you can’t find peace

Maybe because you crave to be like the other hearts

On our hardest days you stay strong

You make sure that you preserve your tears for later

When no one will be there to ask us if we are okay

And I know we are both yearning for this question

That is really rare in our lives

“Are you okay,” is that so much to ask for

And we both are tired but not that kind of tired

Not the sleep kind tired but the tired of the heart
