I had a friend named Sphamandla Radebe we were close like brother’s we thought nothing could separate us.

We were doing grade 3 at Embabane Primary School in Newcastle. Sphamandla was a quite loving boy after school we used to play at his mother’s house because he had lot of toy’s. One week Sphamandla didn’t show up at school on Wednesday that day I was lonely untill after school.

After school I went to his mother’s house to check up on him as a friend his mother lied an said Sphamandla is out with his father while Sphamandla was admitted to Emadadeni hospital but i was too young to tell that she’s telling a lie the following day it was Thursday I told my Grandmother that am going out to check on Sphamandla she told me not to visit him today i didn’t understand why until it was Friday where the school principal announced that the boy is no more

Pictures of that day still run all over my mind where some were crying but because I was young I didn’t understand some of the things rumours out there say’s the boy was poised today when ever i achieve a goal I do it for me an for him.

in loving memory of Sphamandla Radebe
