Patience is virtue. Good things come to those who wait. My name is Nefisa Raleaoa. In my class there was a girl whose name was Zamara, she was 14 years old in grade 8. Zamara was always quiet and she was the best student in the class, she never spoke to anyone, she had brown eyes and had long black hair. I used to call her Mara.

So the other day in class I tried talking to her because I saw that she was sitting alone lonely and by the way I wanted to get to know her more as a friend but she never opened up to me.

So on Friday everyone in my class was excited because it was, the last day of school in Term 2 and so we staying at home for a 3 week holiday, so everyone was hugging each other and we were all happy. And then our teacher Mrs Yarms came in the class and said to us.

Mrs Yarms: “Learners good morning. ”

Learners: “Good morning mam. ”

Mrs Yarms: “How are you all today, I see big smiles. ”

Learners: “(laughing)We are fine thank you and how are you mam?”

Mrs Yarms: “I am good thank you. As we all know we are heading to our Term 2 holiday. As your teacher I had a fun time teaching you guys and I wish you guys a great holiday. I will see you all in Term 3. Thank you guys. ”

Learners: “We had a fun time with you too mam, have a beautiful holiday. Thank you!!”

So after that I looked around the class and I saw that Zamara was not here, I was surprised. I went to the library because she loves reading books and so I thought maybe she might be there, she was not there. I thought that maybe she might be by Miss Foster the grade 9 teacher she loves talking to her.

So then I went to the girls toilet I found her there she was sitting on the toilet passage crying. I went to her and asked her what’s wrong, I hugged her and I was wiping her tears.

Me: “Zamara what’s wrong, you know you can talk to me right I’m here for you, please don’t cry. ”

Zamara: “I don’t even know where to begin. ”

Me: “Please tell me what’s wrong my love, I’m here for you”.

Zamara: “At home, ummm, there are, alot of things happening right now. My baby brother is 4 years old and he’s sick, my mom doesn’t work and she doesn’t have money to buy medication for him and we live in a car(crying), it’s just a mess, my dad left me and my mom and my brother when I was 12 years old. ”

Me: “Zamara I’m so sorry to hear this but I’ll always be here for you no matter what as a friend. ”

Zamara: “Thank you”(crying).

So that day I went home and I spoke with my mom about Zamara’s situation and my mom owns a pizza restaurant. My mom met Zamara’s mom and they spoke, Zamara`s mom was so happy because my mom offered her to come work at the pizza restaurant and to come move in with us, when she’s financially stable she will buy her own house. When they moved in Zamara and I became more closer and we started referring to each other as sisters and we became best friends quickly. Zamara’s mom thanked my mom so much for giving her a place to stay and a job.
