As humans we have developed ways to measure the and value many things. From body weight, monetary value. Just mention a few.

Yet we fail to measure and value the success we have attained. The entertainment industry and media publications have normalized the measure of success in life on an individuals social media followers, geographical location and financial worth among other things. This is because, with these as measuring tools, they are able to expand their own beliefs and ideologies to society.

Life is a journey, the path traveled, hurdles overcome, mountains conquered and lessons learned just like our DNA and finger prints are not the same. Your success should not be what you are shown on TV or media. If looking back at your journey, the path you have traveled, hurdles you have had to overcome, mountains conquered brings joy to your face and a sense of worth that is your success. Those that have shared a parallel road will acknowledge you and make you realize that you have dragged them along to your success thus making them be equally successful.

What the media fails to show us is that, what or whom they regard as a success is based on a narrative which in most cases is not reflective of the journey under taken to attain it. This narrative has lead to society looking down on themselves and not think themselves worthy of what they have.

Success is not in what others have achieved but what you have and how.
