Gone are the days when we’d get everything in abundance at low costs. times are really hard now, and in an economy like South Africa where jobs are really scarce, we really need to employ our minds and create opportunities. do research, put in the time to draw the whole idea on paper, the steps in which to implement and finally practicalize it. opportunities aren’t only given out, they can be self created .
for example, you can’t go and sell tomatoes next to a bunch of other people who sell tomatoes, what’s the profit probability there ? nil to zilch. instead why not start your own small scale tomato farm and be a supplier ? then progress into having your own branded canned tomatoes, tomato paste and sauces ? it’s possible if you put your mind to it , from buying tomato seeds for only R17. 99 you could be earning that money back in multiple, triple folds, if u employ your mind to broaden. so one would say, well im not so clever , so how do I implement this mind employment idea ?
well, there’s a power in reading my dear friends. if anything, reading is the power station that unlocks endless possibilities. why do you think you have to read first before you write an exam or a test ? apply that same principle to real life practical situations especially when it concers hustling. just sit down
identity a possible business idea ?
do a research of it’s viability ?
who is your competition?
who is my target market ?
what sets me out from the rest ?
i have a question for you friends, if you were to start a business, what kind of business would that be ? how will you elevate it from a small idea to a big one ?please answer under the criteria of the questions I gave under the business analysis.
Shifting to academics, most people now study towards courses that have ’employment opportunities ‘ but just how many people can a few organisations hire out of the many people with the same qualification? everything has a limit. im not trying to unsettle those with certain acquired qualifications, if anything, I’d advise them to try adding other courses in relation to what they have already studied, to better their chances, but, considering practical viability towards employment when doing that.
Companies also require experience, how will you get the experience when you have just graduated ? my advice is for people to make certain sacrifices, yes, we all have to start somewhere. so volunteering is one tool that can get you exposure, references and most importantly, that required experience.
