Social media has taken over and is very vocal on many issues. One of these issues is men’s mental health. Influencers and celebrities have made it a habit to address men’s mental health and are getting more popular for this.

Truth is, most of these artists and influencers are clout chasing. The hashtag ‘#mensmentalhealth’ has become so popular that using the hashtag gives you better chances of getting views. Truth is, social media doesn’t care. It all comes down to you. If you can’t simply check on the next person, you are part of the problem. It’s not a world problem, it’s a you problem. If as a girl, you in any way make a guy’s feelings invalid, you’re part of the problem. If as a guy, you make another guy feel in any way less of a man because of their feelings, you too are part of the problem.
The problem is that society has set norms that are supposed to ‘structure the community ‘. Masculinity and feminism are concepts that have nothing to do with the reality of genders. They are merely concepts that outline the expectations of a man and a woman. You don’t have to be male to be masculine and you don’t have to be female to be feminine. Society has opened up to the idea of masculine women but keeps on crushing men’s feelings. Being gay is considered an embarrassment. And this continues to crush most men’s mental health. The fear of coming out cause a lot of men to ‘act out’ and do unimaginable things.
The same people who have made themselves ambassadors for men’s mental health are the ones who secretly mess up men’s mental health. It’s sad to see that clout chasing has taken a priority in people’s lives to the point that they’d do anything for it. It’s been scientifically proven that for every woman who commits suicide, there are three men. Men grow the tendency to suppress their emotions, causing them to lash out by committing suicide.
Don’t be part of the problem. Check on the men in your life. To the gents, be the bigger man, talk about your feelings.
