Afrobeat was developed in the 1960’s and 1970’s by Nigeria’s one and only Fela Kuti. Afrobeats is a music genre mostly in West Africa. With the likes of Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Tems and many many more putting it on the map and making international recognition of the genre. We even have people across other parts of the world singing afrobeats with a bit of a twist. Burna Boy calls it Afro-fusion and Rema calls his type Afro-rave which is naija afro-pop with some bit of Arabic sound. Well I began falling in love with afrobeats in 2016, back then the hit songs were Tekno – Pana, Runtown – Mad Over You, Patoranking – No Kissing Babe and now afrobeats is still a banger with hits like Burna Boy – Last Last, Wizkid ft Tems – Essence and more. We have young stars like, Ayra Star, Rema, Fireboy DML and Asake making waves. Afrobeats to the world. Flavour, D’Banj, Patoranking are amongst the people who have been in the industry for more than a decade. There are so many wonderful artists, who make very good music which stands out to be the best when compared to others.
