Thandiwe Makhobana accepted your friend request.

Thabo saw the Facebook notification and smiled to himself. He wasn’t planning to message her yet. Waiting for Thandiwe to accept his friend request had given Thabo enough time to think carefully about how he was going to approach her.

Thabo posted another old photo where he was relaxing next to the pool drinking a cocktail. Within a few minutes, the post was flooded with comments and reactions. Among the hundreds of reactions, he saw that Thandiwe had reacted with a heart emoji.

So far, Thandiwe was doing exactly what he wanted her to do. He knew that she was expecting him to greet first but he wasn’t going to do that. This time, Thandiwe was going to be the one to initiate a conversation.

Hi. Thabo received a direct message from Thandiwe. It was in the evening and he was watching TV.

Hi. Thabo replied.

I’m sorry but do I know you? You look familiar though. Thandiwe messaged.

Yes, I think you do. Didn’t you attend Mfuleni High in 2006? Thabo asked. He knew she remembered exactly who he was and she was just initiating a conversation.

Oh! Yes, I remember you now.

Thabo read her message but decided to wait and see if she was going to send him another message.

I thought I’d see you again after that day. I just want to say I’m sorry for how I treated you the last time we talked. I wasn’t in the right state of mind. I hope you can forgive me. Thandiwe messaged.

Don’t worry about it. I forgave you a long time ago. Anyways do you think we can hang out sometime? Thabo messaged.

He immediately regretted sending this message. It wasn’t his plan to be the first one asking for a meet-up.

Why? We were not close in that way even at school. Thandiwe messaged back.

I don’t know. Maybe we can get to know each other better since we didn’t have the chance those years. Thabo messaged.

I’m busy most of the time. But I’ll let you know when I’m free. Thandiwe messaged back.

Ok cool! I’ll hear from you then. Thabo messaged.

Xap. Thandiwe messaged.

Thabo was a bit disappointed. He was at a point in his life where most women could hardly say no to him. Thandiwe was clearly one in a million.

Thandiwe was already in bed when she was messaging Thabo on Facebook. She kept smiling as she went through Thabo’s Facebook photos. He was nothing like the guy he knew from school. Thabo seemed outgoing, wealthy, and adventurous.

Thandiwe thought about Thabo’s request to meet with her. In her heart she wanted to accept Thabo’s request. However, she wasn’t going to make it easy for him. Thandiwe was disappointed that Thabo didn’t try harder to change her mind when she said she would let him know when she was free.
